Menera Codong – Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan

Here it stands, tilted slightly to the southwest – the Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan.

This tower has quite a history, being a water tank first in its early days, a watch tower during the Japanese occupation and now a national monument.

It was this early life as a water tank that caused its tilt due to the weight of the water combined with the soft ground on which it was built.

If you’re in Teluk Intan to catch Malaysia’s equivalent of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, don’t forget to try some Teluk Intan Chee Cheong Fan!
